The Place Restaurant
The Place now opens at 4pm each day, which means that, for the meantime, brunch and lunch are suspended. It's The Place, and there really is no other place like it. They say that you can get hooked at The Place and reeled in without ever knowing it. The Place has a long history, though a couple years ago it closed its doors, which freaked out its devoted clientele. Awesome soups!
Eventually the doors reopened after management gave it a good cleaning and some time to rest. Of course the same group of regulars reappeared, as did a whole new swath of the patrons. People go there for the pub grub and to drink. Cocktails are big at The Place because it's so darn comfortable you almost feel like you're on your living room couch.
The food is well worth the trip due to its consistency, and the soup selection is one of the best in the city. Sabres games draw a big crowd. If you can get a seat in the bar room, do so. The addition is nice, but lacks the atmosphere that the original pub has. Friday fish fries are one of the best nights to go.
