Seabar
Navigetter update: SeaBar has expanded and has unleashed an ultra modern Asian fusion dining space to its sushi bar. That allows for a few more dinner selections on top of the wide array of sushi already available.
You have not had sushi in Buffalo if you have not eaten at SeaBar. No joke - this place is the mac daddy when it comes to the creations that Chef Mike Andrzejewski lays down. This is a real treat no matter what city you hail from. Do yourself a favor and hit up SeaBar the next time you're in downtown Buffalo!
Navigetter tips: When ordering sushi, ask for a leaf of shiso (Japanese mint) to tear into pieces and add to the nagiri. At the end of the meal, ask for a spoonful of sake Jello.
From SeaBar:

A creative vision unleashed by Mike & Sherri Andrzejewski, Seabar is designed from the water up to break the levees between traditional sushi huts and a fun fine dining experience. Sushi lovers and newbies can joyously cohabit this delicious reef of fresh handmade delicacies.
Downtown Buffalo's only sushi bar is situated in the historic Ellicott District. An area filled with unique architecture, loft living, interesting new builds, old word businesses and up and coming attractions. You can catch a movie at the nearby Market Arcade cinema. Or stop over from the Chippewa District after experiencing a night out on the town.
Watch as University at Buffalo continues to expand to the north, while the Genesee Gateway reinvents itself to the south. Don't forget to stop in for lunch after picking up groceries at the Washington Market. Sit on the patio if the weather is nice.
Before you leave, make sure that you ask for a complimentary sake Jello shot served in a miso soup spoon.
