Indigenous Women's Initiatives

Indigenous Women's Initiatives (IWI) empowers Indigenous women, their families, communities and nations by applying Indigenous values to contemporary settings and supporting projects that encourage sustainable life ways by recognizing and strengthening leadership capacities across generations.

IWI connects women involved in settings both rural and urban, university and civic with the Indigenous Women's Network (IWN) at both national and international levels.

"Created in 1985, IWN supports the self determination, public education and advocacy, the revitalization of our languages and culture, the elimination of all forms of oppression, the attainment of self sufficiency and the protection of Mother Earth for future generations of Indigenous women, families, communities and Nations in the Americas and Pacific Basin."

IWI's Monthly Talking Circle is open to the public every 2nd Thursday of the month
