Bidwell Parkway
If it's hip and trendy, it happens on Bidwell Parkway. Here you will find the city's most dynamic farmers' market along with Hula hoopers, slack rope walkers, Kan Jam, croquet players, Frisbee throwers, sun bathers, concert series, Indie Markets, performances, parties, runs, rallies, protests, artists, artwork, musicians, gardens... the list goes on.
Bidwell connects Soldiers Place and Colonial Circle - Elmwood Avenue is situated directly in the middle. The parkway is named after Daniel Davidson Bidwell who was born into a well-to-do shipping family. He helped to form Buffalo's police force and was promoted to brigadier general before being killed at the Battle of Cedar Creek in Virginia.
The statue at Colonial Circle is dedicated to him.
