The Great 24-Hour Mural-Thon

The Great 24-Hour Mural-Thon

When a building burned down at the corner of Amherst and Grant, neighbors feared that the property would turn to blight. That's when local residents and businesses decided that it was time to take matters into their own hands.

Let by a series of local artists, the idea was hatched to host an event that would bring the community together while giving the neighborhood a splash of art and needed color. Volunteers worked around the clock to paint a lively mural on the side of the neighboring house - the mural depicts the history of Black Rock, from the natural sediments and rock formations found in the ground, to the industrial train bridge located nearby.
