Allentown
Allentown has just about everything in it that anyone could possibly ever want, including the Small Built Works bus shelter featured in this photo*. It has quaint shops, a lively nightlife, young professionals, artsy bohemian types, hipsters, lush gardens, functional public art, music venues, stunning architecture, a historic service station, pocket parks, cafes, and host of eateries.
I love to bike through the side streets along the Allen Street spine. On any given day you can hear the sounds of musicians as they practice for an upcoming gig. Or maybe an artist has set up shop on a corner. Allentown is home to one of the largest art festivals in the country. It's also the epicenter of Infringement Festival activities.
Of Interest: Rust Belt Books has a performance stage in the back. The restored Allendale Theater is home to the Theater of Youth. Elmwood Village Charter School is located in the beautiful telephone building. Days Park can be found at the West End of the street. Home to the new Car Share program.
*To the right of the photo is a Small Built Works bus shelter fabricated by Architect Brad Wales and his University at Buffalo students.
