Since the mid 1990s, the Allentown Association has brought together Buffalo's premier interior self-guided historic house tour. Held annually or biannually, about a dozen private homes are opened on the tour, known as the "Secrets of Allentown" tour.

The tour of homes event offers the opportunity to view the interior of about a dozen of the neighborhood's landmark properties. Sites on the tour include homes of a variety of styles and periods, which make Allentown such a distinctive neighborhood, as well as historic commercial structures. Attendees of the Secrets of Allentown tour of historic homes will receive discounts at participating Allentown restaurants also features the annual "Taste of Allentown", featuring samples from participating restaurants located in the Historic District. In addition, ticket holders are welcome to stop in at a free wine tasting at a designated spot on the tour.

Visitors of the tour say that the event lives up to its name and surprises visitors with the often-amazing detail present in many of the homes.

As always, there is a wine tasting planned at the Hamlin House, 432 Franklin. The tour takes place from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 on the day of the tour, and members of the Allentown Association may purchase tickets for $15.

Attendees will receive a bound, 4-color booklet with information about all the properties as well as a map with trolley stops and a list of Allentown restaurants that will be offering discounts for Secrets attendees who show their tickets.
