Emerald Beach
We founded this beach last year in order to give the residents of the city a sandy place to relax. It's not a big beach, but as long as it's sunny you will always find families down there enjoying themselves by the water's edge. There is an effort underway to expand the size of the beach.
Other nearby amenities include bathrooms, a boardwalk, The Hatch (food stand), Outlook Tower, The Waterline Restaurant and Shanghai Reds. The Inner Harbor with Commercial Slip is also nearby. The beach was named after the Emerald Channel that runs from Erie Basin Marina to the Emerald Water Intake (the structure out in Lake Erie that resembles an acorn).
There is parking for anyone who wants to launch a kayak. Keep an eye out for Emerald the Rabbit who has made his home on the grassy turnabout at the end of the outcropping.
