Ceramic Wall by Margie Hughto
Located at the Utica Metro Rail Station, this ceramic wall by Margie Hughto was part of an art installation coinciding with the opening of the Metro Rail in 1985. The entire effort cost $1.15 million - a staggering amount of money for the time.
As if a collage of fall leaves, the visitors to this station are greeted with a colorful-yet-subdued wall that is reflective due to its use of glazes and crushed glass. The colors are broken up in an almost natural way, giving an even greater sense of passing by an outdoor landscape.
