Beverly Pepper Sculpture

Beverly Pepper Sculpture

Located at the South Campus Metro Rail Station, this 150' sculpture by Beverly Pepper was part of an art installation coinciding with the opening of the Metro Rail in 1985. The entire effort cost $1.15 million - a staggering amount of money for the time.

This impressive spiral totem is meant to reflect and play off the spire at Hayes Hall. The surrounding bent iron arrangements buried in the grass create what might be an amphitheater for viewers to contemplate the piece.
