Craig Langager Metal Figures
Located at the Utica Metro Rail Station, these bronze, copper and aluminum figures by Craig Langager were part of an art installation coinciding with the opening of the Metro Rail in 1985. The entire effort cost $1.15 million - a staggering amount of money for the time.
These works of art are some of my favorite in the whole Metro Rail exhibit. They are very powerful, and the characters are stunningly futuristic while being primitive at the same time. Each character evokes a totally different response from the viewer.
Works are called The Listener (with birds), The Portrait Maker (with mirror), The Stagehand (weight and mask) and The Choreographer-Seneca Man (animal mask).
