Pistol
Work by Lila Katzen (1988) found on the grounds of UB's Anderson Gallery.
This sculpture is representative of chaos* - especially the masculine chaos in our world. There is an attempt within the sculpture to represent a feminine component as seen with the spiral patterns.
The jagged negative space cuts towards the bottom are abrasive, while similar cuts at the top are gracefully spun, offering a juxtaposed dynamic within the work of art.
*Thanks to Ellen Eschwege for her insight and research.
