Lagniappes French Quarter Cafe
Now Open:
Most of us know that there is one place in Buffalo that people clamor to in search of the finest Cajun cuisine. That restaurant is Lagniappes. Until now, Lagniappes has been situated in a tiny cafe setting on Allen Street near Wadsworth. As the business grew, the owner decided that he needed bigger diggs.
The restaurant has moved a short way down the street into a location that now give it some much needed breathing room. Here's the lowdown on the eatery:
Lagniappes French Quarter Cafe is a New Orleans style cafe offering lunch and dinner dining, and delivery, as well as catering services for large groups/parties.
Their menu consists of small plates such as traditional gumbo, vegetarian okra gumbo, salads, fried oysters, jambalaya, and red beans and rice.
Vegetarian selections including a portabella "club" sandwich, breaded eggplant, "open" hummus, as well as numerous sides such as macaroni and cheese, sweet potato fries, and black eyes peas would satisfy just about anyone.
Po boy sandwiches, are of course a staple to have on any New Orleans style menu - and there are many. In addition, their entree dishes of catfish, BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp, and Creole meatloaf all garner rave reviews.
An interesting side note to remember, Tuesday through Saturday, Lagniappes' kitchen is open until 2am. As this cafe is located on a very popular section of Allen Street for barhopping, this is something that should not go unnoticed!
Vegetarian selections are plentiful and delicious with selections ranging from gumbo (yum!) to portobello po boys... very tasty and healthy!
