Folded Square Alphabet O

Folded Square Alphabet O

Artist: Fletcher Benton

When you first look at this sculpture, you may find the color blue electrifying. Or you may be captivated by the use of negative space. Depending on the time of day, you might even examine the shadows of the work, as they appear to be an extension of the art.

Then you learn that the sculpture is Fletcher's rendition of the letter 'O', and you almost find yourself mouthing the sound, "Oh!" Fletcher created a different work of art for each letter of the alphabet, along with nine numbers.

As if a welder had come along and punched out a circle... within a circle... and let the pieces fall where they might. There's a sense of anarchy along with a feeling of accomplishment. Something unfinished. Yet strikingly purposeful. An ode to the 15th letter of the alphabet
