Times Beach Nature Preserve
Here is a nature preserve that is filled with so many different types of natural landscapes that, at times, it can be surreal - especially when you think that this is still within city limits. There are boardwalks that lead through fields of twelve foot cattail marshes. There are bird blinds and paths and trails swarming with butterflies.
There's even a hidden beach that you can climb down to that is right at the water's edge. The Outer Harbor bike trail extends all the way to Times Beach - don't forget to bring a camera, binoculars and something to eat and drink. Just be sure to take your garbage back with you, and pick up litter when you see it.
