Grease Pole Festival
I'll tell you right now... you've never seen anything like the Grease Pole Festival. After I first heard the name of the event, I knew that I had to go to see what it was all about.
It's a Spanish festival that spans from Friday to Sunday. There is ethnic music and food, people watching, and of course the main event is when teams of people compete to climb the greased telephone pole and claim the prizes at the top. It's gnarly, and dirty, and bizarre - it's the Grease Pole Festival.
The festival takes place three days in July at the corner of Swan and Chicago - Pucho Olivencia Center.
