Connecticut Street Mural
This new mural is located on the West Side wall of Bella Tootsie. I saw it for the first time last summer, and was happy to find the vibrant, socially diverse public work of art had not been tagged.
The mural is located inside a small neighborhood public space, filled with trees and benches. The work of art was painted by six women from Yemen and Somalia - Leila, Hamdi, Faizen, Fardowsa, Hodan and Manal. The project was sponsored by West Side Neighborhood Housing Services and artistic direction was provided by muralist Elvi-Jo.
