Plankton
Plankton is one of the living co-ops that makes Buffalo great. Located on Fargo Street, Plankton is the type of shared living that gives people a sense of pride in their home, their neighborhood and their community. The home is part of the local Nickel City Cooperative and the national North American Students of Cooperation. From Plankton:
We are one half of Nickel City Housing Co-op - the other half is OlWondermoth. We buy food collectively from one of the best CSAs I know, bulk organic grains and beans, and other local foods. We have a garden and handle our own compost. We govern as a house, as a housing co-op, and as a cooperative of cooperatives (NASCO).
Currently, we are looking for new members to drive our vision forward to new cooperative and community endeavors. Come do your thing in Buffalo! It's a low-income town with style, DIY-friendly, Bike-friendly, Vegan-friendly, Pet-friendly and lots of room to dream!
Dreaming of a world where the things we love about each other makes us better people and helps create something bigger.
Nickel City Housing Cooperative was founded in 2001 with the mission of fixing up vacant properties in Buffalo to provide affordable and cooperative housing.
Members of North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO) and leased to us by NASCO Properties, our houses have support and assistance from a national network of housing co-ops.
Want to learn more? Stop by OlWondermoth for our weekly potluck, every Wednesday at 7pm or Plankton for our potluck on Sundays at 7pm!
