HUSVAR Photography
Sean Hus Var elevates the role of photographer to that of a modern storyteller. Using photography as a powerful medium, Sean takes classic myths, fairy tales, and pop culture concepts to create alternate realities where new ideas fuse with their classic counterparts.
At the core of his art lies the idea that all realities exist simultaneously that objectivity remains elusive in the face of our own skewed version of events.
Mind Askew is an extensive photographic project that takes the viewer on a contemporary journey down the proverbial rabbit hole, intertwining sentiment and nostalgia with contemporary conceptual twists. While he continues to explore the outer limits of color, line, and texture, the success of these photographs hinges on the preconceived notions of each story within the viewers mind and his ability to skew that existing perspective.
Mind Askew will feature conceptual shoots such as Alice In Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, Prometheus, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Rockem Sockem Robots, Don Quixote, Little Red Riding Hood, and more. Sean has recently launched the new Mind Askew website, and the site blog is intended to share finished images and behind-the-scenes shots as a sneak peek.
Whether he is shooting artistic abstractions, commercial work, or high-fashion portraiture, Sean wants the photography to exist as a vehicle for connection and transformation; to create a dialogue between the viewer and the object that cannot be articulated; and to inspire within the viewer a deep intellectual or emotional response that is the true beauty of art.
Sean's gestural photography is a term he coined to describe a series of images capturing an overt dynamism from a still object seeks to bring an unequivocal uniqueness and style to the color, line, texture and movement of normal, everyday objects, revealing a fascination with the underlying structure of the material world and organic forms.
Sean connects with that notion of being moved by what is nearest to our lives the visually engaging qualities of our immediate surroundings, the potential we can experience without preconceived notions or traveling to faraway exotic lands.
