World War II Eagle (Italian-American Veterans Memorial)
Artist: J. Bianchi and Son Inc.
An American eagle with its wings uplifted almost vertical sits atop a tiered base. The inscription on the front of the base reads: "In honor of the brave men and women of this city who loyally served their country in WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War."
The lower inscription reads: "Dedicated and erected by the Federation of Italian-American Societies of Buffalo, New York." The lowest inscription reads: "Italian-American Veterans Square Rededicated June 20, 1981."
The base of this statue was re-engraved to include the Korean War and Vietnam War when it was moved to its present location. The concrete footer was also engraved to mark its rededication.
