Harry Bertoia Fountain
Buffalo is very lucky to have this fountain, created by the one and only Harry Bertoia. If you know anything about mid-century modern furniture, then you know that Bertoia was the creator of the infamous Diamond Chair.
The latter part of his career was spent making one of a kind sculptures, which was a major departure from the role of bringing obtainable modernism to the masses. In a way though, the idea that a public work of art can also bring modernism to the masses (one creation to be admired by many) is another take on the early mantra that drove Bertoia to push the envelope.
