The Arctic Glacier Ice Maze

The Arctic Glacier Ice Maze

The Powder Keg Festival crews have officially built the world's largest ice maze in Downtown Buffalo, setting the Guinness Book Record. The maze weighed 600,000 pounds and consisted of 2200 blocks of ice - each weighing 300 pounds. The 'Belly of the Beast' was in the shape of a Buffalo, and the entire maze stood 6 feet high and was lit up with blue and red rope lighting buried in the top layer.

The record was broken on February 27th of 2010. The maze was sponsored by Arctic Glacier. It took just under one week to construct. The final resting place for the ice was One HSBC Tower plaza. At times there was a two plus hour wait to get inside the maze.
