Canal Side is an Inner Harbor project that already has some good bones in that a lot of the infrastructure surrounding the plan is in place. There is now a Commercial Slip boardwalk and a naval museum with hangar. In the future, the site will be home to:
Public Canals, Canal Side Commons & Canal Side Hall and maybe even a mega Bass Pro center... not! There are talks of a market place under The Skyway, additional bike lanes, a bistro, a snack shack, facilities for boaters, patio with cafe seating...
The authentic canal route is being extended with tow paths and additional historic bridges and buildings.
Right now the original cobblestone street grid is being reconfigured to allow for better access into the district. There are even talks of building a connecting bridge to the Outer Harbor.
