Welcome to Wasteland Studios, Buffalo's newest alternative space for art!
This five story wonderland for the arts includes over 20 band rehearsal spaces, multiple recording studios, a tattoo parlor, resident photographers, and a multitude of visual artists of all genres.
It should be no surprise to anyone who knows music and theater in the city of Buffalo that the mastermind behind Wasteland Studios is audio engineer/musician/composer/ techie dude -Brian Wantuch.
Since 1998 Brian has been dedicated to serving independent artists of all levels, and industry professionals alike. What was originally one studio space has grown with Brian's vision, into a multi level, multi-purpose art space, embracing the communal spirit very alive in Buffalos next generation of artists and musicians.
Thus far, over 15 bands have permanent rehearsal spaces, and most recently Wasteland celebrated the opening of its own art gallery, The Vault (in a previous life, the building was occupied by a furrier, thus the multiple vaults throughout the building).
Located on the first floor, The Vault was recognized in the end of the year Artsbeat feature in the Buffalo News - A big hand should go to new Alternative art spaces , Sugar City, 464 Gallery, THE VAULT and Nobody's Art Center, each of which signal an upsurge in the desire of young artists to remain In western new york, contribute to the cultural life of the city, and to make art on their own terms.
