Leo Villareal Light Sculpture
One of my favorite architectural moments in Buffalo is the integration of the classic and modern at the Albright Knox Art Gallery.
While there is so much to admire about this pairing of styles and eras, in 2005, in conjunction with the 'Extreme Abstraction' show, the modern building was itself transformed into a piece of art by the addition of a giant light sculpture by Leo Villareal.

Villareal is a contemporary artist working with light and technology - his pieces range from small, intimate lightboxes to large-scale works. The site-specific lightshow glowing and flashing through the black windows of the modern building of the Knox is pure genius and an absolute treat to witness - both from the street as well as from across the way in the classical building. World class art and totally hypnotic.
