Developer Rocco Termini is has purchased this historic landmark with the intentions of a conversion into mixed use property. The 1904 hotel was important on s many different levels - it was designed by the first professional female architect in the US, Louise Blanchard Bethune.
To stay at the posh state-of-the-art hotel was to stay in the lap of luxury. Guests, for the first time, had access to hot and cold running water in their rooms as well as telephone service - features unheard of before.
In past years the Hotel Lafayette has been compromised at the hands of out-of-state owners. Now, Buffalo will once again be able to take pride in what will most likely be hotel rooms, condos, restaurant, banquet facilities and commercial spaces.
