The Jewish Repertory Theatre
The Jewish Repertory Theatre is a professional theatre whose objective is to share our vibrant Jewish culture with the broader WNY community by presenting plays that deal with Jewish and multi-cultural themes and issues.
We are motivated by a belief that dramatic art offers a unique opportunity to diverse audiences to learn more about Jewish values and customs.
Although the term "JRT" suggests plays either written by Jewish playwrights or plays that focus on specifically Jewish subjects, we believe that the content of these plays should include a broad range of human experience, and that these plays should appeal to the non-Jewish as well as the Jewish communities. Ideally, our JRT will create dramatic experiences that will appeal on many levels to many audiences. Some--if not all--of the plays will be appropriate for school performances.
We feel that the artsand dramatic art in particularoffer a unique opportunity to diverse audiences to learn more about Jewish values, customs, beliefs. Our hope is that the pleasure you take away from a gratifying theatrical experience will offer some solace in a new world that is beset with fear, complexity and violence.
