The Citizens' Regional Transit Corporation
If you click on Navigetter's Metro Rail channel, you will see that there are plenty of practical stops along the Main Street corridor. Ever since the Metro Rail was built, there has been a public outcry to extend the routes - possibly to the airport, University at Buffalo Amherst Campus or even the old Central Terminal.
The Citizens' Regional Transit Corporation (CRTC) was established to act as a mouthpiece for the people of Buffalo who want to enhance the public transportation access in their city. Consider attending one of the group's meetings. Or join as a paying member. Either way, support these grassroots organizations that are making a difference regarding quality of life for our residents.
From the CRTC:
"The Citizens' Regional Transit Corporation is committed to creating a broad base of support for the improvement and expansion of bus and rail transit for all citizens of the Niagara Frontier.
"The purpose of the corporation is to build an understanding of the benefits of transit by facilitating public participation through educational events, information sharing and other outreach efforts.
"CRTC operates on a grass-roots level, meaning we spread word through concerned citizens writing letters and being involved which then reaches upwards to the commercial and governmental levels. This is essential to CRTC's mission of providing transit access for everyone. We need your help!
"The Citizens' Regional Transit Corporation advocates for improved and expanded bus and rail transit for all of WNY through citizen involvement and education.
The Citizens' Regional Transit Corporation meets monthly, at 617 Main Street in the Market Arcade Building, Buffalo, NY, 12:00-1:00 PM, on the third Wednesday of the month. The monthly meetings are free, and the public is cordially invited to attend."
