Days Park Monolith

Days Park Monolith

This monolith serves a couple different functions - one as a waymarking function and another as a spyglass into the once lost and forgotten Days Park. There is a topographical relief map built into the work of art that consists of an overview of the park. Look through the eye slit and you can then see a clear vision of the park grounds.

This monolith is a dedication to one of the lost Olmsted Parks. It was created by Architect Brad Wales' University at Buffalo class to honor Olmsted and Days Park - to pay homage to an urban amenity that had once been forsaken. Thanks to community activists, this park is now a thriving historic landmark.

"In 2005, the Small Built Works Project won the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards Grand Prize for the creative integration of education and practice." -Brad Wales
