Duayne Hatchett Sculpture #1

This sculpture by prolific Buffalo artist Duayne Hatchett (Untitled 1978) is an excellent example of how public art can add to a neighborhood. The sculpture helps to anchor this pocket park, where many of the children from neighboring Tapestry Charter School play and socialize when not indoors.

Sisti Park is a dramatic intersection framed with a beautiful old church, public art, a city school, historic architecture, and a gallery. In the not to distant future, this intersection is going to undergo a major infrastructure transformation. From the City of Buffalo Arts Commission:

"The sculpture and its surrounding park were developed as part of the Allentown Beautification and Commercial Stabilization Project. Rusted steel sculpture with intersecting rectangular planes and proportional rectangular cutaway mounted on semicircular base."
