Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site

Theodore Roosevelt began his presidential journey here. All new state of the art exhibits and a dramatic guided tour offer a museum experience unlike any other. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and emotions surrounding this pivotal moment in our nations history and learn how the enduring legacy of one of Americas greatest presidents affects our lives today.

With the completion of both the Carriage House Projects design (seen here) and the $2.2 million Capital Campaign that made the project a reality, planning and construction are now over and the site is completed and operational.

The project includes significant upgrades to the historic Wilcox Mansion including HVAC and electrical improvements, a new fire suppression system, roof replacement, and interior and exterior painting, as well as construction of a new addition adjacent to the Mansion on the footprint of the original Wilcox carriage house.

The entire facility now has universal access thanks to a new elevator, an at-grade main entrance, and an accessible restroom. New and reconfigured space provides a tremendous opportunity to improve and expand the visitor experience through a new gift shop as well as exciting tour, exhibit, program, and research offerings.
