Preservation Buffalo Niagara
Buffalo's architectural legacy precedes itself. There are few cities that have the architectural significance, and thankfully we have organizations such as Preservation Buffalo Niagara to help steward these significant treasures so that future generations can also enjoy the city's historic built environment. From the organization:
At the end of 2007, nationally recognized consultant Elizabeth B. Waters was invited to Buffalo (through funding from several not-for-profits including the Landmark Society and the Preservation Coalition) to assess the state of preservation in Buffalo. She issued a critical report in February 2008 entitled Buffalo Historic Preservation Issues and Opportunities Assessment.
On February 18, 2009, Preservation Buffalo Niagara announced that it was awarded a three-year, $117,500 Partners in the Field matching grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to hire a full time Preservation Specialist to provide information about historic preservation techniques and programs throughout a 7-county western New York region.
