Gala Waters Skating
Coming Soon:
Many years ago this was a hotbed of activity in the winter, as skaters took to the ice in droves. In recent years, the Delaware Park ice remained dormant with no rinks or skaters to be found.
In 2011 skaters began to take matters into their own hands. They ventured out onto the lake and cleared off a sizable rink and began to play hockey. At this point, it's hot or miss until The City helps to make this a legit skating area.
The hope is that The City will eventually jump onboard and contribute to the success that was started by a determined few. Look for hockey players out on the ice on the occasional Saturdays and Sundays. Hopefully public skating is not far down the road.
In the interim, pond hockey skaters have claimed the outdoor rink at Olmsted's Parkside Lodge as their own until skating at Gala Waters returns.
