Olmsted Nights Winter Lights
The City of Buffalo is finally home to a month-long festival of lights beginning in mid-December and ending in mid-January.
Imagine a beautiful snow laced tree lined canopy in Delaware Park. Now imagine that same tree lined canopy in Frederick Law Olmsted's urban forest adorned with more than 50,000 energy-efficient holiday lights on a crisp winter evening. Over the next few weeks, the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy will be converting the jewel of the park system into a veritable winter wonderland.
With that, the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy has just announced "Olmsted Nights Winter Lights", the premier indoor/outdoor family event of the holiday season. "Olmsted Nights Winter Lights" brings holiday theatrical lighting to Delaware Park. Distinct from years past, "Olmsted Nights Winter Lights", is designed by world class lighting experts, and will be the genesis of many holiday memories.
Emanating from the Parkside Lodge and covering close to 15 acres of the park, "Olmsted Nights Winter Lights" promises a visually impressive pedestrian experience for people of all ages.
Employing more than 50,000 LED, solar, and other energy-efficient lights, "Olmsted Nights Winter Lights" has the distinction of being the only holiday light-show in the City of Buffalo.
The outdoor component to "Olmsted Nights Winter Lights" is also slated to have horse drawn carriage rides and a skating rink adjacent to the Parkside Lodge. The Parkside Lodge will be converted into a warm and cozy winter retreat complete with a roaring fire, holiday boutique featuring goods from local artisans, tasty treats from the Lunch Box Cafe, and live musical entertainment nightly.
