Allentown Trading Co.
When I was growing up, this was a dead corner. It stayed a dead corner for a long, long time. Then there was news that the old stone structure was going to be torn down to make way for a gas station. The preservationists fought the demo, and the corner remained vacant for many more years.
Then, knowing that this was an extremely viable corner, the developers decided to work with the structure and converted it into what is now known as the Allentown Trading Co. - a convenient store, filling station, and sandwich deli. I actually go out of my way to support this business now. Even if the gas prices are not the cheapest, i feel good knowing that I am supporting a success story in historic Allentown.
Plus, it's fairly convenient for me when I'm heading downtown and they serve up a really tasty sub!
