Amy's Place
If you know anything about the University District, then you know about Amy's Place. It's part greasy diner, part hippie hangout, part hipster headquarters, a branded university eatery, and a veggie/vegan safe haven. If you want a 2-2-2, then they have it. If you want a veggie omelet, then they have that too.
Amy's is always busy. The seats at the counter are always filled, as are the booths and tables. The waitresses help each other out whenever possible, which means that you will get a refill of coffee from whoever is passing by. One of the most friendly vegan and vegetarian menus in the city.
People travel all the way across the city to have breakfast and lunch here. The food is served hot and is very consistent - you can see it being made right in the front window. Super chill and perfect for those sweatshirt hangover kind of days. Kids (and students) get crayons to draw on the place mats. Cheap food, good food - one of the best eateries in town.
