Buffalo Athletic Club: Downtown

Rick Rugg and Bob Schiffhauer founded the Buffalo Athletic Club in October of 1980 based around these three simple values: Service, Cleanliness and Owner Operated Facilities.

Buffalo Athletic Club Downtown amenities include:

Basketball Court: An hour of basketball can burn 630-750 calories an hour, and it's an excellent way to build endurance, develop concentration and muscle up your body.

Boxing: The boxing workout improves every type of physical capacity: strength, power, coordination, aerobic fitness, anaerobic fitness and endurance. Exercises that are emphasized include, heavy bag, speed-ball spring-ball and medicine-ball work, skipping, running, weight-training (calisthenics mainly), and wind-sprints.

Dry Sauna: Many benefits have been seen such as improved blood circulation, restored youthfulness, toxin and heavy metal reduction, weight control, cellulite reduction, skin cleansing and rejuvenation, allergy reduction, rash reduction.

Locker Room: The BAC locker rooms were designed with the same functional attributes as the rest of the club. And after an intense workout, relax your muscles in a soothing whirlpool or a dry sauna. (Varies by facility) Our plush locker facility at the women's club offers amenities customized for the special needs of a woman including a large vanity area and built-in hairdryers.

Pool: Swimming is a great activity. It tones your entire body while providing an excellent cardiovascular workout; it strengthens your heart muscle and improves delivery of oxygen to muscles.

Pro Shop: The Pro Shop has everything to meet the equipment and apparel needs of our members and guests. We have BAC embroidered performance clothing. In addition to a wide variety of workout clothes, the Pro Shop features snacks for a speedy recovery from your intense workout.

Racquetball Court: A good game of racquetball puts all your muscle groups to work, building strength and endurance. And you can burn 650-750 calories an hour if you're a fairly skilled player and you play against someone just as good at keeping the ball in play.

Squash Court: The game of squash is a racket game and is played on an indoors enclosed rectangular court. The singles court is 6.40m wide by 9.75m. The doubles court is almost 50% longer than singles courts and 20% wider. Most squash courts are single courts. Because the squash court is three-dimensional the ball can be bounced off the four walls which surround the floor of the court.

Steam Room: The steam bath has been enjoyed for the benefits of total relaxation of mind and body; to ease stress; relieve muscle tension and stiff joints; sweat out body toxins; stimulate circulation; increase body metabolism; keep skin glowing and youthful and to alleviate sinus congestion due to colds, asthma or allergies.

Parking: Monday - Friday Turner Ramp Parking is validated from 6:00 AM - 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM | Saturday & Sunday Parking is Free.
