Marcy Casino in Delaware Park

The Delaware Park Casino (originally built as a boathouse on the Gala Water, now Hoyt Lake) has been altered dramatically since its creation in 1874 by Frederick Law Olmsted's partner, Calvert Vaux.

These changes include an enlargement to accommodate its many visitors in 1885, a devastating fire in 1900, a rebuilding for the 1901 Pan-American Exposition, a dramatic alteration in 1961 and its restoration to a simpler style favoring the tastes of Olmsted and Vaux in 1990. Today the Casino is used for weddings and gatherings.

In 2008, boating was reintroduced to Hoyt Lake. Park-goers can rent a handcrafted row boat from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Today, the historic building offers one of the best scenic views in Buffalo, overlooking the 350-acre Olmsted-designed Delaware Park, Hoyt Lake, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Shakespeare Hill, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.
