The Hangar

The Hangar

The Naval Park exhibit building, known as 'The Hangar', was the first to be built at the Commercial Slip. Thanks to opening glass garage doors, the space opens up to the Naval Yard. The open interior affords flexible expanded exhibition space - this is where many of the tours and the campers meet before heading out to interact with any of the military displays.

From this point at the Inner Harbor, you can pretty much get anywhere by foot or by bike. You're standing just yards away from the newly installed historic replica of the Whipple Truss Bridge that crosses the Erie Canal Terminus. Next to that is the The Naval & Military Park, a naval museum, a fleet of war ships and planes, and a veteran's park with winding bike paths and park benches.

On the other side of the bridge is the Commercial Slip featuring a wide boardwalk, personal craft rentals, and a schooner named Spirit of Buffalo. Venture a bit further out onto the Erie Basin Marina and you will find the Miss Buffalo tour boat, The Hatch Restaurant, Emerald Beach, and the Outlook Tower. It's all within a quick strolling distance.

There are public bathrooms at Outlook Tower and a couple little corner shops to purchase sundries. Bike rentals, Shanghai Reds Restaurant, HSBC Arena and Sabres Store, and even the recently acquired Ira G. Ross Aerospace Museum are all nearby.
