The Eleanor and Wilson Greatbatch Pavilion

A glass pavilion has been designed by Toshiko Mori Architect of New York to integrate a visitor welcome center into the interwoven relationship of buildings and landscape created by Frank Lloyd Wright for the Darwin D. Martin House complex.

This bold proposal revives the spirit of great architectural commissions in Buffalo that characterized the era in which Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Martin House.

The building is conceived as a transparent, glass-walled pavilion that visually connects the landscape with its interior. Proportions and geometries that Wright used in the Martin House are echoed in the pavilion design, such as in the dramatically cantilevered roof. Building systems are designed to be environmentally sensitive. Copy found on:
