About Navigetter
Navigetter started in Buffalo, a city with a vast amount of locally owned businesses and public amenities - the great resources prompted the need for a site to navigate the ins and outs of the city for Buffalonians and visitors alike. The purpose was to connect those who work and live in Buffalo with all the offerings – cultural, culinary and commercial - offered by a college town. Navigetter is a resource for anyone who wants to learn more about the ins and outs of a city. Put yourself in a visitor's shoes... he or she is constantly looking around with fresh eyes. What's this? What's that? Instead of hanging around in cyberspace, we propose anchoring content through existing mapping technology. That way people who are new to Buffalo can explore the city at their leisure. Even diehard Buffalonians will find Navigetter fun and informative. The content never disappears either. It's there as a resource whenever you want it!
The site was started by Newell Nussbaumer, Steve Weiss and Ed Hogle - locals who really appreciate the quality of life offered by Buffalo. These guys were frustrated to hear that thousands of young people were going to school in Buffalo, and after four years the students were still unfamiliar with the city. Why not get the locals to act as cyber tour guides? And let the college students interact with the content? They wanted to create a resource which integrated social networking and mapping technology so that everyone in Buffalo could know the latest and greatest information, while identifying with the geography and landmarks. Of course it didn't take long before Navigetter became a resource for everyone.
Navigetter is as a template for other college towns looking to promote life, on a local level.
The advertising you see on the site is not provided through a third party ad network. The majority of the ads are locally run businesses and ventures. Please support them by clicking on their ads. Ultimately, they make the site possible.
Navigetter started off as a site dedicated to life in a college town, lived locally. Today we'd like to think that there's never been a better getter.
